System Shock Remake Release Date Pushed Back to May 30, 2023

Prime Matter, the publisher, and Nightdive Studios, the developer, have announced that the highly anticipated System Shock Remake will no longer be released in March 2023 as previously scheduled. Instead, it will hit the shelves on May 30, 2023. The remake is a complete overhaul of the original 1994 breakthrough title, combining the cult gameplay of the iconic original with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, revamped interfaces, and all-new sounds and music.

The remake also features a host of improvements including new enemies, tweaked gameplay quality of life, revamped hacking mechanics, and deep new combat options featuring brutal dismemberment systems. The System Shock remake welcomes both new and old players to Citadel Station and the clutches of the evil SHODAN.

Players will use a combination of stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry to make their way through new areas of Citadel Station. They will also encounter traps, puzzles, and secrets in their quest to try to save Earth from destruction.

System Shock Remake can be pre-ordered for PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store and includes a free copy of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for all early buyers. A newly released playable demo for Steam Next Fest can be found in the respective stores.

In conclusion, the delay in the release of the System Shock Remake may come as no surprise to those who follow game development closely.
