Monkey D Luffy is the main protagonist in the manga and anime series, One Piece. He is introduced as the son of Monkey D Dragon and the grandson of the legendary Navy officer, Monkey D Garp. Since he was a child, Luffy has dreamed of becoming the Pirate King by finding the treasure of One Piece. Luffy strongly believes that becoming a Pirate King would grant him complete freedom.
Luffy has now grown into an adult and has become a formidable pirate in One Piece, serving as the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is more convinced than ever that he will achieve his lifelong goal. However, the journey ahead of him is still filled with many challenges, as there are several powerful enemies and obstacles in his way from the Navy and the other great pirates.
Despite his tremendous progress and Gear 5 power, Luffy still has a lot to do and overcome before he can finally become the Pirate King. Many theories among One Piece fans speculate that Blackbeard, his notorious arch-nemesis, is the last villain Luffy must overcome. There are also those who believe that Im Sama is his final enemy and the one who will take the vacant throne.
However, there are answers to these theories scattered throughout the series. The location of One Piece and his final enemy has been hinted at, and can be seen at the Laugh Tale, a skull-shaped island that bears a significant scar on the left eye of Luffy. The One Piece treasure lies at the left eye of the skull, whereas the clue to Luffy’s final enemy is found in the X-shaped scar on his chest. Akainu had given him that wound, which leaves fans with a new theory that he is indeed Luffy’s last foe.
While the One Piece story still has many mysteries left to be unraveled, we can only wait for Seiichiro Oda, the author, to reveal more. It just leaves us excited to see Luffy undergo his extensive journey to become the Pirate King.
