Synopsis

The movie starts by introducing the main character, Sam Larson, a struggling novelist trying to finish writing his thriller novel about a hitman. Sam seeks advice from his friend a former Mossad analyst named Amos. Amos gives him tips on how to make his novel more realistic but warns him to use a false name instead of “The Ghost,” a nickname he initially gave Sam, fearing possible repercussions.

Sam uploads his novel online, and it becomes a massive success, gaining traction with a publisher. However, Amos is unhappy as the book contains factual information he explicitly gave to Sam, including using the name “The Ghost”, putting his family in danger. When Sam appears on a talk show to promote his book, he gets abducted by unknown assailants and wakes up in Venezuela.

Sam soon learns he’s been kidnapped by rebels led by El Toro and is mistaken for the legendary assassin, “The Ghost”. El Toro assigns him to assassinate the President of Venezuela, which Sam refuses. Sam manages to escape and turns himself in to the police. The police take him to Anton Masovich, a Russian mafia drug dealer. While detained there, he’s coerced into accepting a mission to kill El Toro by Rosa Bolivar, a DEA agent who’s also after El Toro.
