Indonesian Esports athletes from Timnas PUBG Mobile have returned to their homeland following their victorious performance in the SEA Games 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They were received with a warm welcome by representatives of the National Olympic Commitee of Indonesia (NOC) and Pengurus Besar Esports Indonesia (PBESI) at the Soekarno Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten on Tuesday (16/5/2023).
The arrival of the PUBG Mobile Indonesia athletes was greeted with enthusiasm by the Indonesian people as they made the country proud by winning medals. Not only was their arrival celebrated, but PBESI also pledged to give bonuses to the successful Indonesian Timnas PUBG Mobile team at the SEA Games 2023.
However, Kabid Hukum dan Legalitas PBESI, Yudistira Adi Pratama, still declined to disclose the exact amount of bonuses that will be given to the successful Indonesian esports athletes. “If it’s about appreciating the athletes, PBESI will certainly provide various forms of appreciation. Just like the previous events, the bonus will definitely be given by the President of PBESI (Budi Gunawan). However, if it’s about the amount, it’s a matter of each person’s policy,” says Yudistira.
The esports athletes arrived in Indonesia after participating in the SEA Games 2023 on Tuesday (16/5/2023). In the Esports category PUBG at SEA Games 2023, Indonesia managed to win one gold medal and one silver medal. The gold medal was won by the men’s group class 2 consisting of Haikal Aditya, Teuku Kausar, Muhammad Afriza, and Alan Reynold Kumaseh. While the silver medal was won in the individual category (solo) by Alan Reynold Kumaseh. They were able to achieve success at the SEA Games 2023 and bring back their hard-earned medals.
Yudistira revealed that this success is the result of the athletes’ hard work. The return of the esports athletes tonight is an achievement because they were successful in winning gold and silver medals. “Once again, I would like to thank you for their hard work and to the athletes who have fought, prayed, and continue to strive for international events,” said Yudistira.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of NOC Indonesia, Harry Warganegara, expressed his gratitude towards the Esports team during their preparation and competition. “You have proven that it was not in vain. Those who received medals can be maintained to advance to Asia and the world,” said Harry.
