Released in 2012, The Dark Knight Rises is the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman saga. The movie starts eight years after the death of Harvey Dent, with Batman in hiding and crime in Gotham City on the decline thanks to the newly implemented Dent Act. But a new villain named Bane emerges and threatens to destroy the city. It’s up to Batman to stop him and protect the place he calls home.

Bane, a former member of the League of Shadows and a terrorist, kidnaps Dr. Leonid Pavel, a nuclear physicist, from a CIA plane in Uzbekistan. After successfully kidnapping Pavel, Bane makes the CIA plane crash and leaves the world thinking Dr. Pavel died in the crash. Delivered to the city by Bane, Pavel creates a nuclear bomb that threatens to destroy Gotham City.

Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne has become a recluse. The murder of Rachel by Joker and his failure to catch him has left him emotionally scarred. Wayne Enterprises has stopped working on the fusion reactor that could solve the energy crisis due to the potential harm it could cause to living creatures. A thief named Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, is hired by Bane to acquire Bruce’s fingerprints from his safe. However, after discovering Bane’s true intentions, she aids Batman and the Gotham Police Department in stopping Bane.
