Narcos Season 2 continues to explore the life and journey of Pablo Escobar, the notorious drug kingpin from Colombia who became rich by producing and distributing cocaine. In addition to being the biggest cocaine supplier in Colombia, Escobar was also a powerful, feared leader of the Medellin Cartel. Wagner Moura reprises his role as Pablo Escobar in this series, along with Boyd Holbrook as Steve Murphy and Pedro Pascal as Javier Pena, both of whom are agents for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) assigned to take down Escobar.

The season starts with Escobar managing to escape from a luxurious prison called La Catedral, which was built specifically for him. After he successfully leaves the prison, Escobar believes that he is now free and would never be caught. However, the President of Colombia, Cesar Gaviria, faces dangerous threats because Escobar is out of his reach. To prevent Escobar from resuming his illegal activities, Gaviria orders National Army troops to surveil every corner of Medellin.

Gaviria’s goal is to stop Escobar from running the Medellin Cartel. However, even though Escobar was imprisoned, his loyal followers were still helping him stay hidden from the Colombian government. Meanwhile, he does not hesitate to eliminate cartel members who try to break away or betray him. In the midst of this, there is intense tension in Colombia as police authorities clash with Escobar’s group.

As Murphy and Pena try to take down Escobar, they face resistance from their own superiors, who do not want them involved in the operation. Los Pepes, a vigilante group determined to fight Escobar and the Medellin Cartel, is formed, with Pena secretly joining the group. However, some influential members of the Medellin Cartel, who have been caught, decide to betray Escobar and his group. Escobar flees but eventually, he reaches his downfall.
