Roronoa Zoro’s Advancements During the Wano Country Arc in One Piece Anime

The Wano Country Arc is one of the longest and most intense arcs in the One Piece anime series. During this arc, Roronoa Zoro of the Straw Hat Pirates had ample opportunity to increase his capacity. The Wano Country is naturally home to many shinobi and swordsmen, which perfectly complements Zoro’s natural abilities as a swordsman. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits Roronoa Zoro had while he was in Wano Country.

Firstly, Zoro obtained the Enma sword, which was Kozuki Oden’s legendary sword that once slashed Kaido’s body. Enma is known as one of the most difficult swords to wield because it eats up the user’s haki. Zoro had to train hard to master Enma and enhance his fighting skills. His hard training to conquer Enma didn’t go to waste, as he was able to cut Kaido again with Enma. Kaido realized that Zoro fought against him using Enma, which previously hurt his body while he battled Oden. Additionally, by using Enma, Zoro also managed to defeat King.

Apart from inheriting Oden’s legacy in the form of the Enma sword, the storyline of the Wano Country Arc also allowed Zoro to be closely related to Wano. Zoro has been compared to the swordsman Shimotsuki, who he previously met on Thriller Bark. Shimotsuki Ryuma awarded Zoro the Shusui sword, one of Wano’s treasures, which was later taken away and replaced with Enma.

According to Wano’s elderly residents Kawamatsu and Hyogoro, Zoro bears a resemblance to another member of the Shimotsuki family. They believe that Zoro resembles Shimotsuki Ushimaru in his younger years. Just like Zoro, Shimotsuki Ryuma was also a one-eyed swordsman, which is why the two have a visual similarity. However, the One Piece team has not confirmed this, and Eiichiro Oda confirmed that Zoro is not related to the Shimotsuki family in any way.

In conclusion, Roronoa Zoro’s advancements during the Wano Country Arc in One Piece anime were significant. He was able to conquer the difficult-to-wield Enma sword and further enhance his fighting skills. Additionally, the arc allowed him to have ties to Wano through the Shusui sword and the Shimotsuki family. These moments were certainly highlights of the Wano Country Arc and demonstrate just how far Roronoa Zoro has come in the One Piece universe.
