Good news for Minecraft fans! Microsoft has recently announced that the game will now be available on Chromebook, allowing players to enjoy cross-device multiplayer with their friends, access to Minecraft Marketplace, and the capability to play on Realms. However, this will require a well-equipped Chromebook with a special processor, 4GB RAM, and 1GB of storage. Although this requirement can be frustrating for some prospective users, considering that Chromebooks are widely used in schools and Minecraft is played by many children.
According to Microsoft’s official blog post, “Early Access means that in this first stage only selected Chromebook devices meeting minimum requirements will get the option to buy Minecraft, so you’ll need to check the Google Play Store to see if Minecraft is available for you.” This will make sure the game’s performance is tested before being made available to more players.
In addition to this, users may experience some bugs while playing, which they will have to bear. Microsoft said, “We still expect there might be a few bugs, and that’s where we need your help. If you find a goat-eating frog, a squid that can be milked, or an Ender dragon dancing disco, let us know!”
Currently, Minecraft can only be played on Chromebook using Edisi Pendidikan or Java Version. The Chromebook + Android bundle costs $20 (Rp309k), the Android-specific version costs $7 (Rp108k), and the upgrade from Android Chromebook costs $13 (Rp200k). The existing Minecraft world will not be transferred to the Chromebook version, and users will need a Microsoft account to play.
There is no news yet on when the final version will arrive or whether the minimum requirements will change. However, if you do not see the Early Access version on the Google Play Store, chances are your Chromebook is not compatible.
The availability of Minecraft on Chromebooks will certainly bring joy to many gamers, especially those who want to play the game on various devices with friends. So, get your Chromebook ready and start playing!
