Kokushibo, The Most Powerful Upper Moon Demon: Why Does He Have 6 Eyes?

Kokushibo, the Upper Moon Demon 1, is the strongest among his rank and one of the trusted demons of Muzan Kibutsuji, the King of Demons. Despite having a normal-looking human bodybuild, his face is a different story. Kokushibo has six eyes which make him look terrifying to the eyes of fans. But why does he have six eyes in Kimetsu no Yaiba? Let’s find out!

1. Kokushibo’s Twin Brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni

Before Kokushibo became a demon, he was a human named Michikatsu Tsugikuni, who was the twin brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the strongest Demon Slayer that ever existed. The relationship between the twin brothers was not amicable. Michikatsu was jealous of Yoriichi’s natural talent since birth. No matter how hard he tried, he could not compete with his twin brother’s abilities.

2. Yoriichi Zeroshiki

Due to Yoriichi’s strength, Kotetsu’s ancestors created a mechanical warrior doll called Yoriichi Zeroshiki to commemorate the legend. The doll was built according to the model’s resemblance, including different sword fighting techniques. Since the doll only had two hands, the maker decided to give it six hands so that it could match Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s capabilities.

3. Kokushibo’s Six Eyes

Throughout Michikatsu’s life as Kokushibo, his primary goal was to surpass Yoriichi Tsugikuni. He wanted to catch up with his twin brother in terms of skills and abilities. While the reason behind Kokushibo having six eyes is not clear in the manga, it is certain that he did it to eliminate the gap between him and his brother.

Kokushibo has the power to manipulate his own flesh, which allowed him to have six eyes. This way, he could have better vision and the ability to predict his opponent’s movements. He intentionally had six eyes to match Yoriichi Zeroshiki’s six hands, the mechanical warrior doll that imitates Kokushibo’s twin brother.

4. Kokushibo’s Failure to Defeat Yoriichi

Despite being the strongest Upper Moon Demon, Kokushibo was never satisfied with his power as a demon. He was unable to defeat his twin brother, Yoriichi, even in the final battle between them. Yoriichi, who was already very old, gave Kokushibo a difficult time during the fight, and in the end, it was not Kokushibo who defeated him, but the old age of Yoriichi.

In conclusion, Kokushibo’s six eyes were a result of his desire to overcome Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s abilities. While he may be the most potent Upper Moon Demon, he could not beat his twin brother, even in his demon form.
