When it comes to registering a prepaid card in Indonesia, there are some new regulations in place that you need to be aware of. The Ministry of Communication and Information has implemented a new policy that requires all prepaid card users to re-register their cards. The purpose of this policy is to minimize and prevent the misuse of telephone numbers, as well as to protect consumers.
Before we get into the details of how to re-register your prepaid card, let’s briefly go over what a prepaid card is. It is a card that can be used by mobile phone users to make calls and send text messages. However, users must first reload their account with credit before they can enjoy the benefits of making calls, sending texts, and other services. Additionally, before you can even activate your prepaid card, you must register your personal information.
Now, let’s dive into the regulations put forth by Menkominfo regarding prepaid card registration. According to information obtained by Tribun News, Menkominfo has implemented a new policy for re-registering prepaid cards listed in Peraturan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi (Permen Kominfo) no 4 tahun 2017. This policy went into effect on October 31, 2017.
All customers need to prepare their personal data such as NIK, and the Family Card. Rudiantara, the Minister of Communication and Information explained that customer information will be recorded in the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) database.
In addition to that, Menkominfo will give a password to operators to access NIK and Family Card numbers. This will help the operators match the prepaid card customer’s data with the data that exists in Ditjen Dukcapil more easily. Menkominfo confirmed that operators can only see data, without the ability to modify it. Meanwhile, Menkominfo has agreed that sanctions will be given to those who do not comply with the regulations that have been set forth.
The sanctions for not re-registering a prepaid card are strict. People who are caught not registering for the re-registration will have their prepaid card numbers deactivated. Numbers that are not registered for the re-registration process will be blocked. Therefore, it is critical to re-register your prepaid card to retain its functionality.
In conclusion, if you are a prepaid card user in Indonesia, it is imperative that you re-register your card to avoid any inconvenience caused by the blocking of your number. By complying with Menkominfo’s new policy, you can ensure that your number stays active. Do not take the risk of being caught without the proper registration, and stay connected by registering your prepaid card today!
