Alvin and the Chipmunks, a film directed by Tim Hill and released by 20th Century Fox on December 14, 2007, takes us on a journey with the legendary characters that have been around since 1958 through their single “The Chipmunk Song,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Their popularity has never faded, but a full CGI presentation for the three squirrels is just what was needed for a refreshed look at these legendary characters.

Synopsis

Dave Seville aspires to get his songs into JETT Records through his friend who is a producer, Ian Hawke. He excitedly arrives but returns home saddened from the harsh rejection he received. The three squirrels who live in a Christmas tree suddenly jump into Dave’s food basket. At Dave’s house, they make a mess of the food supply in the cabinet. Dave faints while chasing them, but he is intrigued after hearing them sing and offers them a place to live as long as they sing his songs.

Dave spends the night trying to find inspiration and composes a song that the three squirrels sing beautifully the next morning. Feeling ready, Dave again meets Ian to showcase their performance, but they suddenly come down with stage fright on stage in front of Ian, making Dave embarrassed. Dave is soon fired from his job because his presentation board was vandalized by the squirrels. He goes home in a rage, remembering he has a dinner date with his ex-girlfriend, Claire.

While Dave buys food, the three squirrels clean the house, and dinner turns awkward because one of the squirrels named Alvin is mischievous. Feeling like a failure, Dave is resigned, but the three squirrels later go to Ian’s house to sing Dave’s song, and they get signed to JETT Records. The Chipmunks become an instant sensation, with their songs topping the charts and getting tons of love at every show they put on.
