Tsunade Senju is one of the most iconic characters in the anime series Naruto and its sequel, Boruto. She is widely known for her youthful energy and wisdom, coupled with her immense strength as a ninja. Tsunade is the granddaughter of the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju, and is the fifth Hokage of Konoha. From a young age, she showed incredible intelligence and graduated from the academy at the age of six, while her classmates were generally twelve years old.
Tsunade is a particularly skilled ninja in medical jutsu, making her one of the strongest medical ninjas in the series. She also belongs to the legendary Sannin along with Jiraiya and Orochimaru. Her signature move, the Byakugou seal, is a technique that was passed down to her from her grandfather. The Byakugou seal allows her to store chakra that can be used for healing or regenerating her own body’s cells. This is why Tsunade always looks youthful and energetic. Her appearance never changes, even as generations pass.
When Tsunade first appeared in the series, she was estimated to be around 51 years old. As Naruto grew into a teenager and the Fourth Ninja War ended, Tsunade was estimated to be 55-57 years old. In Boruto, Tsunade makes her first appearance during a meeting of the five kages of the Five Nation Alliance hosted in Konohagakure. While other kages show wrinkles over the years, Tsunade seems to be ageless.
In the beginning of Boruto, it is shown that Naruto has become the seventh Hokage, succeeding Hatake Kakashi who was the sixth. However, Tsunade did not make an appearance. The last time her presence was seen in the Naruto anime was during the Fourth Shinobi War. She reappears in Boruto, after he becomes a Genin, which indicates that she would be around 70 years old.
Tsunade Senju is a ninja who possesses incredible strength, both physically and intellectually. She is not only the Fifth Hokage of Konoha, but also the last surviving member of the Senju clan. Known as legendary Sannin, her Byakugou seal technique and signature strength, Tsunade is a character that will always be remembered in the Naruto universe.
