Intrusion is a recent drama thriller film released by Netflix on September 22nd, 2021. Adam Salky directed the movie while Chris Sparling wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Logan Marshall-Green, who played Henry Parsons, Freida Pinto as Meera Parsons, Henry’s wife diagnosed with cancer, and Robert John Burke, who played Detective Steven Morse.

The Storyline

Henry and Meera are a married couple who have been together for twelve years. Meera is diagnosed with cancer, and Henry is portrayed as a loving and supportive husband. The couple decides to move from Boston to a small town in New Mexico. Henry is an architect, and he designs his dream home to start a new life with Meera. A few days after moving into their new home, two men broke into their house in the middle of the night, causing unrest within the couple.

Henry shoots one of the intruders dead, and the other is seriously injured. While Meera is shaken by what happened in their home, Henry seems unbothered by the incident. After reporting the break-in to the police, Detective Steven Morse visits Henry. Steven asks several personal and detailed questions to investigate the break-in connection. In contrast, Henry seemed uncomfortable answering the detective’s questions about his personal life.

Meera looks into Henry’s activities and suspects he is hiding something, making her more curious. She finds out that Henry went to Dylan Cobb’s house, the same address where one of the intruders lived. Meanwhile, Detective Steven reveals to Meera that Dylan’s daughter, Christine, has been missing for several days. He also told Meera that the other intruder severely injured by Henry died.

Meera decides to go to Dylan’s house to get answers. She sneaks in and sees a letter from Henry’s company, revealing that Dylan and Henry were connected, and Henry lied to her. She finds a package that was addressed to the police, with a video camera inside. When she walks out, an odd man crushes the camera and warns her never to return.

Meera tries to watch the video inside the camera, but it’s too damaged. She then goes to Henry’s office to look for something, and in a safe, she finds a picture of Christine with Dylan. The film ends on a thrilling note, as Henry’s dark secret comes to light.

Review

Intrusion’s storyline is an intense drama thriller, but the execution is mediocre. The movie struggles to maintain its momentum, and the plot is predictable. The supporting characters fail to add depth to the story, and the script is cliché. The first part of the movie is dull, but the ending is thrilling and exciting.

Freida Pinto and Logan Marshall-Green did an excellent job as the main characters, Meera and Henry. Meera’s caring and loving personality is portrayed beautifully, while Henry’s dark side is intriguing. Overall, Intrusion is an average movie, but the main characters’ performances make it worth watching.

Conclusion

Intrusion is a Netflix drama thriller film released in September 2021, directed by Adam Salky and written by Chris Sparling. The story revolves around Henry and Meera, a couple who move to a small town in New Mexico. Meera is diagnosed with cancer, and their lives are upended when their home is invaded by intruders.
