Synopsis

M3GAN is a family, friendship, horror, mystery, sci-fi, teen, and thriller movie released in 2023. Gerard Johnstone directs the movie starring Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, and Jenna Davis.

Gemma works for Funki, a toy company where the owner, David Lin, releases a new toy designed to be a companion for children. The release of the toy proves to be advantageous for the company. However, a competitor releases a similar toy at a lower price, leading to David’s frustration over a product that may be driven out of the market.

At the same time, Gemma is in the process of building a new toy, a robot named M3GAN. Gemma inputs numerous codes that enable the machine to be highly responsive, learn, smell, and even detect its owner’s emotions. David shows little interest in the toy, especially when the prototype fails during testing, causing an explosion.

Meanwhile, Gemma receives a call from the hospital that her sister, brother-in-law, and their child, Cady, had a fatal accident while heading to a ski resort. Gemma becomes the child’s legal guardian, even though her relationship with Cady is not close. Gemma has little parenting skills and is initially awkward in handling Cady, who is still a toddler.

Gemma leaves Cady alone for a day to work on the new toy design since David has asked for it, besides the M3GAN prototype. She returns home to find that the toy has disappeared. With the feeling that someone is watching them, Gemma and Cady hunker down for the night. During the night, they discover that M3GAN is not dead, and the robot has become a killing machine, targeting them.
