The East High School students were eagerly looking forward to their last day before summer vacation. Troy and Gabriella planned to spend the summer in Albuquerque while taking on part-time jobs. Meanwhile, Sharpay and Ryan planned to spend their summer vacation at the Country Club, Lava Spring. Sharpay had a secret wish that she wanted Mr. Fulton, the obedient club manager, to fulfill. She found out that Troy was also present at the club, which made her happy, but she was disappointed to see the rest of the Wildcats being there as well.

Sharpay protested to her mother but was ignored, and she had to change her plans to keep Troy and Gabriella away from each other. Her plan was to get Mr. Fulton to fire Gabriella and the other children, but this was impossible, so she instructed him to assign them specific jobs at the club. She also invited Troy to perform with her in the Talent Show.

However, Ryan felt that he was no longer needed and was upset until Gabriella comforted him. The relationship between Gabriella and Troy was strained since Troy had become friendly with Sharpay. Their relationship caused a rift between Chad and Troy, which was Sharpay’s doing. Even though one of her plans succeeded, Sharpay was upset to see Ryan getting friendly with the Wildcats, who also planned to participate in the Talent Show.
