Disney’s Princess Protection Program is a comedy and drama film that was released in 2009. The film was produced by Rainforest Production and directed by Annie DeYoung. Starring Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Nicholas Braun, and Jamie Chung, the film revolves around the story of Princess Rosalinda María Montoya Fioré (Demi Lovato), who is about to be crowned as the queen of the small country Costa Luna.

The film starts with Princess Rosalinda preparing for her coronation when her country is attacked by a dictator from a neighboring country called Costa Estrella. The dictator, Magnus Kane (Johnny Ray Rodriguez), aims to capture the royal family and take over the country. The situation becomes uncontrollable, and the Princess’s mother, Queen Sofia Fore (Sully Diaz), is taken as a prisoner. In a bid to save the Princess, “Program Perlindungan Putri (P.P.P)” agent, Mayor Joe Mason (Tom Verica), comes to her rescue before Magnus gets a hold of her.

With the help of Mayor Joe, the Princess’s identity is changed, and she is transported to Monroe, Louisiana, where she will be safe from the dictator’s reach. Rosalinda takes on the identity of Rosie Gonzalez, a high school student who recently moved from Iowa to Louisiana. She will stay at Mayor Joe’s residence with his daughter, Carter (Selena Gomez). Carter is a tomboy who isn’t easy to approach and also feels insecure about her looks when she sees Rosie’s beauty. However, as the situation becomes more dangerous, she agrees to be Rosie’s “cousin” to keep her safe.

As the news spreads, it complicates Rosie’s already precarious position, and a group of mean-spirited girls at school threatens to expose her true identity. However, with the help of her newfound friends, Rosie manages to navigate these tricky situations and ultimately becomes Homecoming Queen, winning the admiration of her peers and winning over Carter’s support.

In conclusion, Disney’s Princess Protection Program (2009) is a heartwarming tale of friendship, courage, and self-discovery that teaches the importance of being true to oneself, standing up for what is right, and learning to accept others despite their differences. The film’s central message is that we should all embrace our unique qualities and strive to be the best versions of ourselves.
