Synopsis

Alice Through the Looking Glass is set in London, where Alice has just returned from her latest adventure. Her mother informs her that Hamish, the son of Lord Ascot, is now the owner of the Wonder ship that belongs to Alice’s family. Alice decides to go to Hamish’s party that night, where she plans to discuss a trip to China with him.

Alice wears Chinese colorful clothes to the party, provoking the guests’ disapprovals. Upon meeting Hamish, Alice learns that her mother had sold their house to Hamish in exchange for Wonder, making Alice homeless. This revelation angers Alice, who accuses Hamish of doing it out of cruelty and revenge for previously rejected marriage proposal. Hamish, however, denies being spiteful and tells Alice that he sold the ship to someone else. Hamish informs Alice that she is no longer the captain of her ship and advises her to quit sailing to conform to societal norms for women.

Alice, however, is determined not to be like her mother and runs away. She ends up in a beautiful garden chasing a butterfly and discovers a giant mirror. Alice enters the mirror and finds herself back in the Underland world. She reunites with her old friends and meets a brainwashed Hatter, whose family he believes is still alive, despite having been previously killed by Red Queen’s Jabberwocky. Alice tries to cheer him up by sharing how she, too, lost her father but ends up failing and getting herself imprisoned.
