Nope is a sci-fi horror movie directed by Jordan Peele and released by Universal Pictures on July 22, 2022. The movie follows the story of OJ, who witnessed his father’s death from falling objects from the sky. Strange events start to happen around his ranch, and things get even weirder when his sister Em becomes stuck with him in the house during multiple attacks by UFOs. To document the events, OJ brings in a Hollywood film director. However, the question is, are they really dealing with UFOs?

The movie is set in Los Angeles, where Otis Haywood Sr. is the owner of a ranch with many horses that were once used for Hollywood film productions. One afternoon, a loud buzzing sound was heard from the sky, and Otis Sr. fell off his horse, his eyes injured by a falling object from the sky. Despite OJ’s efforts to rush him to the hospital, Otis Sr. dies due to a coin that penetrated his eye. OJ, helped by his sister Em, continues to run the ranch. After a failed audition, OJ takes his horse to Jupiter’s Claim, a cowboy-themed amusement park, to pawn it.

Later that night, the power at their house is disrupted, and they witness a UFO in the sky. Many of their horses disappear mysteriously. Seeing this as an opportunity for fame, they install a spy camera to take a clear picture of the UFO. When the UFO attacks again, the power at their house goes out, but the spy camera still works, albeit obstructed by a grasshopper. However, the camera fails to record the UFO sighting.

The next day, the camera installer, Angel Torres, inspects the camera and notices an unmoving cloud. They assume it has a UFO behind it. Em feels that they need a camera expert to capture the UFO sighting. She contacts Antlers Holst, a Hollywood cinematographer, but he is not interested.

Meanwhile, the owner of Jupiter’s Claim, Ricky “Jupe” Park, creates a new attraction by using horses as bait to attract the UFO. Unexpectedly, the UFO arrives earlier than expected, and it sucks up everyone who is present in the location. OJ witnesses the event and realizes that they are not facing UFOs, but rather predatory creatures from outer space.

Antlers becomes interested in capturing the UFO sighting after the disappearance of the amusement park attendees. Antlers, along with OJ, Em, and Angel, makes a plan to attract the creatures they dub “Jean Jacket” by putting up many dancing balloons. To avoid Jean Jacket’s electric field, Antlers brings his hand-operated camera. However, a motorcyclist arrives with a camera and recklessly approaches Jean Jacket’s position, getting sucked in by the creatures’ electric field. When OJ tries to save him, the motorcyclist gets sucked in.

Jean Jacket’s attacks intensify, and Antlers becomes a victim while trying to capture its image from up close. OJ, Em, and Angel, despite it being impossible, must find a way to escape the creatures’ threat as they begin to reveal their true form. Will they manage to defeat the creatures?
