Mumun, Teror Pocong Mumun Kembali Lagi, is a comedy-horror film directed by Rizal Mantovani, and starring Acha Septriasa, Dimas Aditya, H. Mandra, and Eddies Adelia. The film is based on the popular Indonesian television series, Jadi Pocong, that aired in the early 2000s.

The story follows twin sisters Mumun and Mimin, who have completely different personalities. Mimin, who lives in Jakarta, is modern and outgoing, while Mumun, who lives in a village with her parents, is known as the village beauty and is admired by many men. Juned, a responsible and religious man, is the only man that Mumun loves. Babe and Enyak, Mimin and Mumun’s parents, support their daughters’ choices and want them to be happy.

However, Mumun’s life takes a dark turn when she receives a message demanding a payment of 50 million rupiah. She soon finds out that her twin sister, Mimin, has taken a loan under her name with a huge interest rate. Mumun asks Mimin to pay back the loan, but Mimin blames their parents and does nothing.

Mumun’s debt keeps increasing, and she turns to Juned for help. On her way back home one night, she is attacked by debt collectors, but luckily, Jefri, a rent collector, comes to her rescue. Jefri has been in love with Mumun for a long time and tries to pursue her in various ways, including asking for help from a gravekeeper named Bang Husein.

One night, Jefri tries to rape Mumun, but she fights back, and Jefri ends up getting killed in a car accident. After Mumun’s burial, strange things start happening in her village, and the Pocong Mumun appears to Bang Husein, Babe, Mimin, and Juned. They soon realize that Mumun’s pocong is seeking revenge and that there is a hidden secret that Mimin has been keeping.

The film Mumun, Teror Pocong Mumun Kembali Lagi, attempts to blend comedy and horror, with a mix of horror tropes and jokes. However, the comedy element of the film feels very forced and at times, inappropriate. The film tries to tackle heavy subjects like predatory lending, sexual assault, and retribution, but it falls short in delivering a coherent message.

Overall, Mumun, Teror Pocong Mumun Kembali Lagi, is a forgettable film that fails to capture the essence of the original television series. While it is thrilling to see Pocong Mumun on the big screen, the film does not add anything new or interesting to the character’s mythology. Thus, it is not a film that can be highly recommended to fans of the horror-comedy genre.

Conclusion:

In summary, Mumun, Teror Pocong Mumun Kembali Lagi, is a comedy-horror film that follows the story of twin sisters Mumun and Mimin, and their encounter with the vengeful Pocong Mumun. The film attempts to bring nostalgia to the viewers who grew up watching Jadi Pocong, but it fails to deliver a coherent message and falls short in the comedy element. Nonetheless, the film is a must-watch for those who want to see the classic Indonesian ghost character, Pocong Mumun, on the big screen.
