The movie is set two decades after the first war between vampires and werewolves. Lucian is the first werewolf who can turn back into a human. Viktor, one of the vampire elders, raises Lucian with the vision that the werewolves will be guardians of their castle. The area surrounding the castle is filled with both born and transformed werewolves from William.

Humans ask Viktor to protect them from the werewolf attacks. Viktor agrees to this, on the condition that humans provide them with silver metal so that they can control the Werewolf race. Meanwhile, Lucian falls in love with Viktor’s daughter, Sonja. However, their different races force them to hide their love affair.

One night, Sonja is almost attacked by a group of werewolves. Fortunately, Lucian comes just in time, and they save her. But, instead of being grateful, Viktor punishes Lucian with a flogging and putting him in jail, seeing him as a threat to his daughter’s safety.
