Qodrat, the latest horror film in Indonesia, directed by Charles Gozali, has brought us a thrilling story of exorcism and terror. This film stars Vino G. Bastian, Marsha Timothy, and Randy Pangalila, and has promised to deliver chills that exceed any other horror film in 2022. If you’re a fan of horror movies, Qodrat is a must-see film that will give you goosebumps.

Synopsis

Qodrat, an expert exorcist, loses his wife under mysterious circumstances, and his son, Alif, falls into a severe possession. Despite his efforts to exorcise his son, the demon proves to be too strong, and Alif dies a gruesome death.

Qodrat, now hopeless, ends up in prison for the death of his son. A prison guard, possessed by the same demon responsible for killing Alif, kills Qodrat by hanging him. He survives, but it’s a close call. Once out of prison, Qodrat returns to his village, where he finds out that Jihan, a fellow villager, is now possessed.

Yasmin, who lives with her two children, Asha, a high school student who doesn’t believe in superstition, and Alif, who is paralyzed, struggles to save her family from the demon. When Alif becomes possessed, Yasmin turns to Qodrat for help. Qodrat, hesitant to perform another exorcism, is finally convinced to help after hearing Alif’s name. They arrive at Yasmin’s house to find Asha injured, and Qodrat must fight the demon that is now possessing Alif with his knowledge and faith.

The Plot and Development

Qodrat’s storyline is intense and engaging from beginning to end. It drew its inspiration from real-life exorcism stories, making it a relatable horror film that will haunt you for days. The film’s depiction of the village community and religious practices captures Indonesia’s culture and way of life.

The development of the plot is seamless, with the film introducing the main characters and the devil possessing Alif in its opening. The gradual introduction of other possessed characters in the village kept the story intriguing and unpredictable.

The Acting and Cinematography

The actors in Qodrat delivered great performances that breathed life into the characters they portrayed. Vino G. Bastian, who was making his debut in a horror film, gave an impressive performance as Qodrat, the main protagonist. Marsha Timothy played the role of Yasmin, a mother fighting to save her family, with conviction, and her chemistry with Vino G. Bastian was amazing.

The film showcases impressive cinematography, especially during the horror scene. The camera angles used created a sense of impending doom, effectively immersing the audience in the film’s story.

Conclusion

Qodrat is a captivating horror movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Its storytelling, exceptional acting performances, and excellent cinematography make it one of the best horror movies of 2022. Qodrat is a 4/5 for me, and I recommend that you add it to your watchlist this year.
