Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams serve as the show’s directors, while Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofie Hublitz, Julia Garner, and Charlie Tahan star as the lead cast.

The show follows the life of Martin ‘Marty’ Byrde who serves as a financial advisor. Along with his wife Wendy and two children Charlotte and Jonah, they move to the Ozark region after a mishap involving the theft of eight million dollars from a Mexican drug cartel. To save himself and his family from being killed, Marty offers to launder five hundred million dollars in five years, starting with replacing the stolen eight million dollars.

As the family settles into their new surroundings, they face various challenges, including ruthless criminals and the FBI, who are hard on their trail. Marty and his partner’s money laundering for the cartel gets more complicated with every turn, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

The storyline of Ozark S1 is exceptionally structured, making it easy to follow, even for someone with no background in money laundering. The series is not just entertaining and thrilling, but it also offers insights into the practice of money laundering. Jonah, Marty’s son, is shown learning the intricacies of the trade, and Ruth, who has no background in finance or law, tries to understand and learn how to run the operation efficiently.
