Four to Dinner is a romantic drama film that explores the idea of destiny and soulmates. The story follows four friends and their journey in finding their soulmates and what happens when fate brings them together with people they least expected.

Directed by Alessio Maria Federici, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Ilenia Pastorelli, Matilde Gioli, Giuseppe Maggio, Matteo Martari, and Marta Gastini. With a runtime of 105 minutes, Four to Dinner is the perfect choice for anyone seeking a light and sweet romantic film.

Synopsis

The film’s story is told in parallel about two sets of lovers. Sara and Luca narrate a story about their four friends, Chiara, Giullia, Matteo and Dario. One day, Sara and Luca bring their two female friends (Chiara and Giullia) and two male friends (Matteo and Dario) together for a dinner party. After the dinner, the two couples became closer.

The film then shows two parallel stories. In the first one, Chiara and Matteo become a couple while Giullia and Dario start dating. Both couples seem happy, with Matteo and Chiara getting married, and Giullia taking a job out of town which causes her relationship with Dario to become long-distance. However, both relationships start to encounter challenges. When Chiara becomes pregnant, Matteo confesses to having an affair with his coworker. Meanwhile, Giullia continues to prioritize her career, leading Dario to feel distant from her. When Chiara goes into labour, Matteo is late to the hospital while Giullia also returns to the city without telling Dario.

In the second parallel story, Dario and Chiara get together while Giullia and Matteo start dating. At first, Dario and Chiara were only friends as they didn’t see any compatibility between them. But when Chiara starts dating someone else, jealousy between them leads them to realize that they are in love with each other. Meanwhile, Giullia gets pregnant with Matteo’s child on their first date. They then get married, and Matteo follows Giullia to the city where she works, where they live with their child. However, at their child’s birthday party, Matteo confesses that he has had an affair when Giullia is pregnant with their second child. Though Giullia forgives Matteo, their marriage is forever changed.

Review

Four to Dinner stands out from other romance films because of its unique approach to storytelling. Instead of following one main plot, the film presents two parallel stories that intersect at various points. This makes for a more interesting viewing experience as every character is given a chance to shine.

The relationship dynamics between the four characters are also fascinating to watch. Each character has a distinct personality, and it’s interesting to see how they change depending on who they are paired up with. The film’s message that love can change us is something that resonates with many viewers and is likely to leave a lasting impact.

However, despite its intriguing premise, Four to Dinner can at times be confusing to follow. The constant jumping between the two storylines can be disorienting, which may be a turn-off for some viewers.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Four to Dinner is a must-watch for lovers of romantic dramas looking for something a little different. With its talented cast, unique storytelling, and touching message, Four to Dinner is a captivating film that will leave you thinking about love and destiny.
