Samsung Expands Its QD-OLED TV Range with the S90C and S95C

Samsung has finally introduced more than one OLED TV series, expanding its Quantum Dot OLED range to include the more affordable S90C family. Users will have to settle for a scaled-down version of object tracking sound and will not get the near-flat wall installation or external connection box that the S95C offers.

According to Engadget, users will still get strong QD-OLED picture quality, AI-based HDR mapping, Dolby Atmos audio, and synchronization with Samsung’s soundbar. The S90C starts at $1,899 for the 55-inch model and reaches $3,599 for the 77-inch version. A 65-inch set is also coming soon!

While the price seems to match LG’s equivalent C3 TV, Samsung clearly wants to outdo its main rival, even though it still does not offer Dolby Vision HDR. Users will also have more options if they are willing to spend extra on the S95C.

In addition to the 77-inch model priced at $4,499, which is already shipping, Samsung has added a 55-inch ($2,499) and a 65-inch ($3,299) version that is more affordable.

Although the price is higher than last year’s models, it is in line with LG’s G3 line. Samsung claims a slightly brighter 2,000-nit output and a 144Hz refresh rate for compatible PC gaming. Both the S90C and S95C are launching today.

It is too early to say whether Samsung or LG has the best OLED TV family this year, but there may be differences such as Dolby Vision support or brighter images. However, it is safe to say that Samsung is now fully invested in OLED TV after avoiding it for years. Extra competition could be good news if it leads to more aggressive pricing and features.
