One Piece Chapter 1085: Shanks’ Fate and Luffy’s Battle with Gorosei Saturn
As the One Piece story progresses to chapter 1085, chaos ensues on Egghead Island with the arrival of Gorosei Saturn and Admiral Kizaru. Meanwhile, Monkey D. Luffy battles the seraphim, only to face Gorosei Saturn himself. The elder of the World Government goes insane upon confronting Luffy, leaving the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates severely beaten.
Another revelation in chapter 1085 concerns the fate of Shanks in Elbaf. After capturing the last Road Poneglyph from Kid, the Red-Haired Pirates prioritize their next move. On the other hand, Luffy must struggle to fight off Gorosei Saturn in an attempt to obtain the treasure of One Piece.
However, it seems that Shanks predicted the chaos that would unfold on Egghead Island. He also knows his role in paving the way for Luffy, which is all part of his plan to reach Laugh Tale.
Shanks aims to claim One Piece, just as Luffy does. The treasure of Gol D. Roger, known as the “King of Pirates,” is a valuable achievement in the status of ruling the seas. Shanks initially pursued Bartolomeo, who burned the flag of the Red-Haired Pirates. However, it is only a small part of his actual chase towards Elbaf.

There are speculations that his actual target is Uranus, and he will give it to Luffy to fulfill Roger’s long-delayed mission. Even so, four claims support that the treasure of One Piece will fall into the hands of Monkey D. Luffy.

Lastly, it took Roger 14 years to reach Lodestar Island, whereas Luffy is already approaching Laugh Tale without any significant obstacles. So, what is Shanks’ role and fate in One Piece’s story?
Shanks’ fate becomes apparent only after arriving on Laugh Tale. Roger found out about the world’s secret but realized that he was not Joy Boy. They arrived too soon, and it was already Roger’s last journey.
