Komi Can’t Communicate is a manga and anime series that follows the journey of Komi Shoko, a beautiful high school student who struggles with social anxiety and communication. Her biggest desire is to overcome her social anxiety and make 100 friends before she graduates from high school.

The story begins with Komi meeting a boy named Todano who recognizes her problem and begins to help her by communicating with her through writing on a chalkboard. For the first time, Komi is able to make a friend and her journey towards friendship begins.

With Todano’s help, Komi starts to open up and share her problems with him. They are later joined by Najimi Osana, an eccentric and popular girl who becomes Komi’s second friend. Unlike Todano, Najimi pushes Komi out of her comfort zone and challenges her to do things that she wouldn’t normally do, like buying coffee with a strange flavor.

As Komi’s friendship circle grows, so does her confidence in social situations. She is finally able to speak up during a school event, even if it was just one word, “Meow”. This was a huge achievement for Komi, considering that she had never spoken in public before.
