In the latest One Piece chapter, Eiichiro Oda has shown the situation that happened on Hachibushu Island. From Koby’s escape from Kurohige’s pirate group to the arrival of SWORD members, a lot happened. Koby managed to escape after being held hostage by Blackbeard’s pirates with the help of Moria’s crew member, Perona, who was also kidnapped by Marshall D Teach. After Koby successfully escaped, chaos erupted on Hachinosu Island as he was wanted by the Cross Guild, who gave a bounty for the Navy. Oda has also revealed why Marshall D Teach kidnapped Koby. His goal was to use him as leverage to achieve his dream of becoming king and forming a country under Blackbeard’s flag. However, this was highly unlikely as Koby was a SWORD member.

SWORD members, including Gap, a Vice Admiral, and a legendary hero in the Navy, went to Hachinosu Island to save Koby. Although there is no official confirmation from Oda that Garp is a member of SWORD, his presence on the island was to save Koby. Garp and Koby have a bond as teacher and student. Beyond that, he also knew that the new hero in the Navy was close friends with his grandson, Luffy. Garp mentioned in the final chapter of One Piece 1080 that Koby was his beloved student. This is why he demonstrated his Galaxy Impact power, which can destroy a large part of Hachinosu Island in one strike, to save him. Garp has high hopes for Koby as he is considered the future of the Navy, as demonstrated several times.

Even though Koby is not the strongest character in the One Piece story, he has enough determination to become a good Navy member that fights for justice. Koby has shown his bravery on several occasions, including during the Marineford War and the Rocky Port incident. During the Marineford War, Koby was the only one brave enough to end the war by stopping Akainu, who wanted to kill Luffy and other pirates. Koby’s bravery was once again shown in the Rocky Port incident, which led to him being considered a new hero in the Navy. It also made him a worthy successor to Garp.

Given the courage shown by Koby, Garp is confident that he will become the hope for the Navy in the future by making him a Fleet Admiral. The events that unfolded in One Piece chapter 1080 only highlight Koby’s importance in the story and his role in shaping the future of the Navy.
