Kakushigoto: My Dad’s Secret Ambition revolves around Gotou Kakushi, a manga artist who writes manga with not-so-appropriate content under the pseudonym “Gotou-sensei”. He has a daughter named Hime, and he keeps his job a secret from her, fearing that she’ll feel embarrassed and disappointed about him. However, as Hime grows older, the real challenge for Gotou Kakushi is trying to keep his job hidden from her.

Synopsis

The story begins when Hime receives a mysterious building key on her 18th birthday, which leads her to a place similar to their home. Underneath the building, she discovers a secret that her father, Kakushi, has been hiding for years. Entering the house takes her back eight years ago, when she was ten years old.

Kakushi made his living as a manga artist, but he did not want his daughter to know about his job. He put all his manga scripts in a warehouse and changed the layout of his workspace so that it looked like an ordinary office. He made sure to dress professionally and switch into different clothes as soon as he arrived at work.

One day, however, Kakushi’s editor had been replaced by Tomaruin, and he showed up unannounced at Kakushi’s home. Panic-stricken, Kakushi raced back home to prevent his daughter from finding out about his real job. To prevent Tomaruin from knowing about his real career, he had to quickly change his kaos t-shirt that featured his characters to another with different characters.

Kakushi is eventually caught up in a terrible storm, he wants to make this vacation an unforgettable one so that his daughter can remember all the happy moments. However, this turns out not as planned as Hime’s school program gets canceled, so she has to return home alone.
