Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea is the 17th installment in the Case Closed franchise created by Aoyama Gosho. The film was a huge box-office success, earning a total of $35.3 million during its run in 210 theaters. The movie follows Conan and his friends as they embark on a journey to avenge a dangerous spy on a Japanese Destroyer ship. In this article, we will provide you with a detailed synopsis of Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea.

The movie revolves around a foreign unmanned ship that is found anchored in Maizuru Bay by a coast guard named Masaaki Kurata. It turns out that the ship contains explosives and has entered Japan illegally. Conan and his friends are in queue to board the Japanese destroyer Aegis Destroyer, Hotaka, to enjoy a ride. They manage to board the ship after Kogoro wins a lottery. However, before the ship sets sail, the crew demonstrates the critical time during a war and the decisions taken at that time. All the visitors are fascinated as they learn about it. But, the officers demonstrate a mission to strike as they detect response sonar without letting the visitors know they are on an actual mission. Thankfully, they abort the mission after a missile hits a dead sea vessel believed to be the enemy by the Aegis officers.

While exploring the ship, Conan meets a sick child named Yuuki and a female officer named Nanami Fujii. He notices something fishy about the man she is traveling with, but he ignores it. Later, Kogoro gives her a card with his name written in bold letters. Conan senses there is more to Nanami, so he contacts Professor Agasa, and he asks Ai to look into her through the photo they took.

Conan plans to investigate the incident and pretends to go to the restroom. As Ran accompanies him, they hear screams from the corridor. When they investigate, they find a human arm wearing a self-defense force (SDF) lieutenant Sasaura’s uniform, who was stationed in Wakasa. Captain Yukio Tateishi and Captain Makoto Sekiguchi and the Wakasa military police discuss the case.
