The latest episodes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba feature the Pillars, Izui Tengen, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke battling against the demons, Daki and Gyutaro, who are both at level six. Daki, who has been disguising herself as a high-class prostitute in the Yoshiwara district, has a beautiful appearance and is one of Muzan’s favorite demons. She is known to have killed seven Hashiras or Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Daki is a cruel and vicious demon who has disguised herself as a prostitute to easily obtain fresh blood. She lives in a corner room that is devoid of sunlight in her area of operation, and at night, she roams around looking for her prey. In episode 7, Daki confronts Tanjiro and Nezuko but was eventually decapitated by Izui Tengen. However, it turns out that she was still alive as she could only be killed together with her brother, Gyutaro. In episode 8, Daki regained her strength, and while Tanjiro and Tengen faced Gyutaro, she battled against Zenitsu and Inosuke.
Daki’s character in Demon Slayer mirrors the legendary Rukorokubi demon from the Edo period of ancient Japan. Kimetsu no Yaiba itself takes inspiration from classic Japanese culture and history. The Rukorokubi demon, a female spirit with a long neck who enjoys consuming humans at night, is quite similar to Daki’s character. Although Daki doesn’t have a long neck, she still appears to live even when her neck is severed, as seen in episode 7 when her hand carries her head, seemingly with a long neck like that of the Rukorokubi.
In conclusion, the battle intensifies as the Hashiras confront the demons in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Daki, with her exceptional fighting skills and beauty, is undoubtedly a worthy adversary for the demon slayers. Her character and story in the anime are quite intriguing, drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore, making her a memorable part of the series.
