Are you a fan of MMOs on PC but wish they were available on consoles too? Well, with the upcoming release of next-gen consoles, it would be great to have some of our favorite PC MMOs also available on them. MMOs have already made their home on PC, where players can enjoy all kinds of crazy keybinds and execute complex moves. Moreover, the MMO landscape on PC is also very vast and varied. However, that doesn’t mean console games fall behind and can’t provide an exciting experience. Several MMOs have successfully been ported to consoles, including Black Desert Online, Warframe, and Elder Scrolls Online. So, what’s next? Keeping that in mind, here are some of the best PC MMOs that deserve to be ported to consoles.
Runescape
Since its initial release in 2001, Runescape has only been available on PC, and even after 19 years, it remains strong with a dedicated, loyal, and enthusiastic player base. Console gamers often wonder if they can experience the wonders of Gielinor through their PlayStation or Xbox. And now, the good news has finally arrived. Although they haven’t confirmed an exact date, the Runescape developer, Jagex, has strongly hinted that Runescape will be available on consoles in the coming years.
In their September update, Jagex said, “For mobile release, we coined the phrase ‘Old School Anywhere’. I want to go one step further. I want ‘Old School Everywhere’!” They then added that they want Runescape available on “other platforms and consoles”. So, when can we try Runescape on consoles? Well, as mentioned in their 2021/2022 roadmap, it might be as early as next year!
If you want to revisit Runescape 3 or Old School Runescape but don’t want to start from scratch, you can buy a Runescape online account at Eldorado.
World of Warcraft
The most famous MMO of all time, World of Warcraft still has millions of players even after 15 years of release. There have been some offers for WoW console ports in recent years, but we still have to wait. A few years ago, rumors circulated that a WoW console port was already near. These rumors were believed to be discussing plans for controller support. Many fans even believe that the only reason Blizzard would take such a step is that they plan to release the game on consoles.
In conclusion, with the next-gen consoles on the horizon, it’s exciting to think about the possibilities of having our favorite PC MMOs available on them. Runescape and World of Warcraft, two of the most popular MMOs, are currently leading the rumor mill in terms of console ports. One can only wonder what other MMOs will follow suit. Until then, we will have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for official announcements.
