Here is everything you need to know about the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie synopsis and review.

Synopsis

X-Men: Days of Future Past takes place in the year 2023, where Sentinels, giant robots with advanced weapons, are assigned to protect the Earth from mutants. Mutants are viewed as dangerous and violent, resulting in a rapid decline in their population. The Sentinels even kill those who try to help save the mutants. In Moscow, the Sentinels launch an attack on several X-Men characters, including Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Blink, Warpath, Bishop, Iceman, and Sunspot.

Luckily, Kitty Pryde was able to use her mutant powers to restore Bishop’s consciousness, and the rest escaped unharmed. The surviving X-Men team up with Storm, Wolverine, Professor Charles Xavier, and Magneto in China. Xavier reveals the origins of the Sentinels and how Bolivar Trask, a scientist and military engineer, created them. However, he was later killed by Raven in 1973, prompting the government to use her DNA to create even deadlier Sentinels.

Xavier plans to travel back to 1973 to stop Trask’s murder, but his current physical condition makes him unable to execute the mission. Wolverine, with his fast regeneration ability, volunteers for the job. Arriving in 1973, he goes to the X-Mansion, which was empty due to the Vietnamese war. Xavier was an alcoholic at the time, making it harder for him to use his telepathic powers.

With Xavier’s serum enabling him to walk but impairing his abilities, it becomes imperative for the two to find and stop Mystique. Together with a new X-Men recruit, Peter Maximoff, they start with a mission to free Lehnsherr from prison. This mission is successful, but it aggravates tensions and leads to an attack on the mutants by both humans and other mutants.

As part of Trask’s experimentation, Raven discovers that he is using mutants to further his work. She then schemes to assassinate Trask during the signing of a treaty aimed at ending the Vietnam War. In the middle of the attempt, she is caught by Xavier, Logan, and McCoy, subsequently escaping with her life. After this point, the government deems mutants a danger, allowing Trask to further his Sentinel project. Lehnsherr, secretly trying to take over the Sentinels, injects iron into the prototype. The question is, will the X-Men succeed in stopping Raven and changing the future?
