The design for Toji Fushiguro was finally revealed in the recent Jump Fiesta 2023 event, where it was unveiled that Toji will be one of the antagonists in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. The design for Megumi Fushiguro’s birth father surprised fans and generated much hype. The event also revealed the design for a teenage Satoru Gojo. The reveal of these characters’ designs and the teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 during Jump Super Stage made fans happy, especially since the show’s promotion was not very extensive.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which is planned to air in July 2023, will comprise of two story arcs. The first arc will cover Satoru Gojo’s past, taking fans back 11 years when he was a student at Jujutsu Tokyo High School, studying alongside Suguru Geto and Shoko Ieiri. The new designs for the three characters teased in the trailer have given fans a glimpse of their unique styles not seen in season 1. The highly anticipated design for Toji Fushiguro is the one that fans have been waiting for. He will be a worthy adversary for Satoru in season 2, and fans are thrilled that MAPPA has designed him to look just like he does in the manga.
The reveal of Toji’s design has also brought relief to fans who were disappointed when he did not appear in the key visuals for season 2. Fans are eager to see the iconic battle between Toji and Satoru, which takes place during Satoru’s past arc and is incredibly intense in the manga. The July release date is also perfect timing since it will give viewers the chance to catch up with the current story arc in the manga. Additionally, some fans feel that the release date is perfect as the Shibuya Incident arc (which takes place on October 31st, 2017, in the manga) will be airing in October.
Jump Fiesta 2023 not only revealed teaser trailers for Jujutsu Kaisen 2, but the event also hinted at the manga’s future. Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, left a message for fans indicating that the series will end next year. The message has caused confusion and speculation among fans since he previously stated that he wanted to finish Jujutsu Kaisen within two years, but the Culling Game’s introduction prolonged that deadline. Debates are ongoing in the fandom about whether the Culling Game will conclude the manga or if there will be more story arcs to come.
Although fans believe that the manga will continue despite the Culling Game arc ending, the actual ending, according to the mangaka, cannot be predicted. Fans of My Hero Academia recall how the creator, Kohei Horikoshi, announced that the manga would conclude at the end of this year, but the story arc has not concluded yet. Nonetheless, for the present, the revelation of Toji Fushiguro’s design, the teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, and the hint at the manga’s future have definitely satisfied fans of the popular anime.
