The Story of Ackerman Clan and the Reiss Family in Attack on Titan Anime

The Anime series Attack on Titan had conveyed a gripping storyline pertaining to the relationship between the Ackerman Clan and the Reiss Family. The Clan with the highest social status on the Paradise Island belonged to the Fritz royal family and then was further possessed by the loyal followers of Fritz, the Ackerman Clan. Unfortunately, the bond between the two clans had its ups and downs over time.

When Karl Fritz migrated to Paradise Island, he commenced his life by wiping out the memories of the Eldian people. However, there were a few clans which did not surrender to the power of King Fritz, and the Ackerman Clan was one of them. Considered as a hindrance to the memory erasure, King Fritz planned to annihilate the entire Ackerman Clan. Even though the Ackerman Clan was known as one of the most loyal clans to the monarchy, they were still cruelly persecuted from one generation to another, hounded relentlessly even after taking refuge in underground cities. They were also systematically impoverished.

The Ackerman Clan was reduced to only a few members, including Kenny, Levi, and Mikasa. But in the era of King Uri Reiss, the persecution of the Ackerman Clan ceased. The King ordered the slaughter of the clan after meeting Kenny Ackerman. Initially, Kenny was curious about what had happened that led to his clan being massacred. However, when he met King Uri, the inheritor of the titan’s power, also known as the wall king, until 842, he apologized to Kenny for the injustices of the previous king.

To Kenny’s surprise, Raja Reiss apologized profusely even with an extreme gesture of kneeling and stabbing his own hand with a knife. King Uri deeply regretted the barbaric treatment that the previous king had inflicted upon the Ackerman Clan.

Kenny was moved by the King’s sincere apology and he forgave him. He became the right-hand man of the King until his reign ended. After King Reiss was done with his duty, he left his power to his nephew Frieda Reiss, but she was consumed by Grisha, and the entire Reiss family was slaughtered. Only Rod Reiss, Uri’s brother, and Historia Reiss, Rod Reiss and Alma’s illegitimate child, were left.

After Uri’s death, Kenny served Rod Reiss and became part of the royal elite force. One of his missions was to fight against his own nephew, Levi. Yet, Kenny had an ulterior motive towards the Royal family. He intended to seize the power of the founding titan. Sadly, he was too late to learn that the founding titan’s strength could only be activated in an individual, who had the royal bloodline.

Thus, this was the story of the relationship between the Fritz or Reiss Family and the Ackerman Clan in the Attack on Titan Anime series.
