One Piece 1081 just gave us a shocking revelation about Monkey D Garp’s fate. Many fans were under the impression that he was killed by Kurohige, but it turns out that his fate is in the hands of another character.
As we know, Garp is currently on Pulau Beehive with his SWORD comrades, trying to rescue his subordinate, Koby, who was kidnapped by Kurohige’s pirate crew. In One Piece 1081, we see Garp getting weaker, and Kurohige’s attack seems to hit him hard. But later, we learn that Garp’s weakness is not due to Kurohige’s attack, but instead because of a heart disease that he has been hiding for years.
This heart disease is similar to the one that Gold D Roger, the Pirate King, had. Kurohige took advantage of Garp’s weakness and almost defeated him. Even when Garp cut off Kurohige’s hand, the latter managed to flip the situation, and Garp got hurt severely. Kurohige then awakened his devil fruit power and dealt the final blow to Garp that put him on the brink of death.
We see Garp’s comrade, Hibari, crying over his critical condition. But it turns out that Garp didn’t die at Kurohige’s hands but someone else’s. When Garp arrives on Pulau Beehive, he is greeted by Aokiji, Kurohige’s subordinate. Many theories suggest that Aokiji might help Garp defeat Kurohige and save Koby, but the spoiler for One Piece 1081 indicates that Aokiji might be the one to defeat Garp.
In the One Piece series, Garp is known as a legendary hero of the Navy. He is the former Vice Admiral of the Navy and the grandfather of the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. Garp is also the biological father of Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Despite retiring from his Vice Admiral position alongside Sengoku after the war, Garp continued to serve the Navy and contributed to its growth.
It’s unclear if the fight on Pulau Beehive will be Garp’s last, but knowing Garp’s strength as a Vice Admiral, he will certainly use all his abilities to save Koby. One Piece 1081 also features Vinsmoke Sanji giving a warm welcome to Gorosei Saturn’s arrival, showing how Oda intensifies the drama in the upcoming episodes.
