The fact that he is the only person who cannot be cut by Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in the series, proves the strength of his devil fruit.
Buggy could become even stronger after awakening the powers of his Bara Bara no Mi. This would enable him to manipulate his environment and prevent sharp objects from cutting objects near him. Eiichiro Oda has previously shown the awakening power for the Paramecia devil fruit, such as the Doflamingo’s devil fruit during the Dressrosa arc. The same thing could happen with Buggy.

Currently, both Crocodile and Buggy are reaping the benefits after Mihawk and other strong pirate crews wanted to join the Cross Guild.
