The Zoldyck family is undoubtedly one of the most notable clans in the Hunter x Hunter series. They are known as skilled assassins who are almost impossible to defeat, with almost every member of the family being trained as a killer since childhood. This grueling training has shaped their personalities and honed their incredible strength, including their high endurance, immunity to poison, and adept use of Nen.
The Zoldycks reside on Kukuroo Mountain, in the Dentora region of the Padokea Republic, and maintain an enigmatic appearance in public as only a few people know of their existence. Their name is even more terrifying than that of Genei Ryodan, making them a legendary force to be reckoned with.
Here is a guide to the members of the Zoldyck family, listed in order:
1. Maha Zoldyck
Maha is Zeno’s father and the oldest living member of the Zoldyck family. While little is known about him, it is rumored that he once faced off against Isaac Netero and was the only one to survive. Maha’s features have never been shown in the anime, and his Nen type remains unknown. Nevertheless, his reputation as one of the most formidable assassins cannot be denied.
2. Zeno Zoldyck
Zeno is Silva’s father and Killua’s grandfather. His name alone instills fear in the hearts of those who reside within the underworld. He is a professional assassin who grew up in the business of killing. He once claimed that it would take less than seven seconds for him to eliminate a group of armed members of the Mafia. He is an exceptional Nen user, capable of emitting an aura that breaks anything it comes in contact with. Zeno can also transmute his aura into a dragon, which he can use as both transportation and attack. He can even turn the dragon’s aura into a meteor storm that can obliterate anything beneath him. However, Zeno has a moral compass and refuses to harm the innocent. He also cares deeply for Killua.
3. Silva Zoldyck
Silva is the current head of the Zoldyck family. He is a calculated and pragmatic character, who ensures that his actions are only taken if there is a guarantee of success. Like his father, he holds Killua in high regard and has appointed him as his successor. Not much is known about how he met his wife, Kikyo, or how he shaped the Zoldyck family as it is now. Silva’s strength was showcased in the Yorknew City arc when he and his father, Zeno, battled Chrollo Lucilfer. Silva proved his resistance to poison when Chrollo sliced him with a Ben’s knife coated with the deadly substance that can paralyze a whale. Silva nearly managed to kill Chrollo but failed due to Illumi’s intervention.
4. Kikyo Zoldyck
Not much is known about Kikyo, aside from the fact that she is the mother of the Zoldyck children. However, as a member of the family, she is presumed to be a skilled assassin. She seems to dote on Killua, wishing for her youngest child to be a successful killer. Kikyo is also a protective mother who is wary of outsiders approaching her children. Her attitude toward those outside the family is similar to that of other Zoldycks.
5. Illumi Zoldyck
Illumi is Silva and Kikyo’s eldest son and Killua’s older brother. He first appeared in the guise of Gittarackur and revealed his true identity to Killua while impulsively asking him to come home. Illumi has a blank expression, but he is extremely overprotective of Killua, even to the point of implanting a needle in his younger brother’s brain. His Nen type is manipulation, which he employs by using a needle to transform his physical appearance, as seen in the Hunter Exam arc. He also uses it to kill, control people to do his bidding, or make them work until they die of exhaustion.
6. Milluki Zoldyck
Milluki is the second youngest child and eldest son of Silva and Kikyo. He is known for his obesity and fondness for video games. Despite his appearance, he is also a lethal assassin like the rest of his family and once attempted to kill Killua. Milluki has not been seen using Nen, but he does seem to have some knowledge of computer programming.
