Tengoku Daimakyou, also known as Heavenly Delusion, is an upcoming seinen anime series that airs this Saturday (1/4). This series is adapted from Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga and features a mix of adventure, mystery, and puzzles that invite viewers to keep following the story. Despite having a shounen appearance with a teenage protagonist, this anime has a darker theme, including scenes that require deeper thoughts and understanding that don’t fit in the shounen category.
Taking place after what is known as “Kehancuran,” which devastated Japan 15 years ago, Tengoku Daimakyou is set in a chaotic Japan. As a result of the disaster, places are left uninhabitable, and survivors are doing anything to stay alive. This devastated Japan is called “Neraka,” while in an isolated place, a group of children is raised and educated in a giant dome-shaped building known as “Surga,” where technology keeps them under constant surveillance.
Tokio, one of the children living in Surga, receives a message from his friend Mimihime, asking him if he wants to see the world outside the walls and roof of their home. This message piques Tokio’s curiosity, as he didn’t know that a world outside Surga existed.
In the meantime, Maru and Kiruko from Neraka are searching for Surga. Maru’s mission is to find a boy who looks like him and lives in Surga, so he may be cured of an illness. However, their journey is not straightforward because nobody knows where Surga is located, so they continue to walk around, looking for clues.
The story of Tengoku Daimakyou revolves around two main characters, Maru and Tokio, who both have a mysterious background that is slowly revealed throughout the story. Maru and Tokio have similar faces, but their fate is different. Additionally, Kiruko, a 20-year-old former racer, is hired to accompany Maru on his journey to Surga and has a personal mission to find two men, Robin Inazaki and an older man.
Tengoku Daimakyou is a fascinating mix of sci-fi and adventure that will appeal to those who love science fiction. The unique setting and engaging characters will keep viewers intrigued. Tengoku Daimakyou’s first episode airs on Tokyo MX and BS11 before appearing on other channels such as RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, Hokkaido TV, TV Aichi, MBS, BS11, and RKK Kumamoto Broadcasting. Disney has exclusively acquired the broadcasting rights for this anime outside of Japan, and it can be legally viewed on Disney+ Hotstar.
