Flor is proud of her Mexican heritage and speaks Spanish while working at the Clasky’s even though no one else understands it. She always refrains from getting involved with her employer’s family issues. However, when the Claskys go on vacation, Deborah invites Cristina to come along, which doesn’t sit well with Flor.
Deborah becomes obsessed with Cristina, neglecting her own daughter, Bernice, and even painting Cristina’s room without Flor’s permission. Tensions rise between Flor and Deborah, and when Cristina finds a broken glass that John didn’t pay for, she becomes the translator between John and Flor. John, realizing that Flo might quit, gives her a ride home and cooks her a delicious meal at his restaurant.
