The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is a sequel to the anime series of the same name, which follows the story of Naofumi Iwatani, a young man who was summoned to a parallel world along with three other young men to become the legendary heroes of that world. The queen suspected that the strange events were related to the Spirit Turtle, which had returned from hibernation. The four Cardinal Heroes were then tasked with stopping the Spirit Turtle, but three of them except Naofumi refused the queen’s orders.
Naofumi, along with Raphtalia, Filo, and Rishia, prepared to leave the next day. However, before leaving, Rishia decided to become Naofumi’s slave. After becoming his slave, Rishia’s power increased, just like Raphtalia, who decided to become Naofumi’s slave.
During their journey to the Kingdom of the Spirit Turtle, Filo communicated with Fitoria. Naofumi was reminded of the fate of the Heroes if they refused to cooperate. In the middle of the journey, they were attacked by more familiar turtles, forcing Naofumi to use a powerful shield technique to defeat them.
At that time, a hooded woman asked Naofumi to kill her and then disappeared. After that, Naofumi met the queen and the generals from the surrounding countries to discuss a plan to defeat the Spirit Turtle.
Seven Star Heroes and others wielding weapons were summoned to help. However, that power would not be enough to stop the Spirit Turtle. Suddenly, a mysterious woman who had met Naofumi before entered. The mysterious woman introduced herself as Ost Hourai, who was the family of the Turtle itself.
Ost said that the Spirit Turtle had been forcibly resurrected. Then Ost plans to work with Naofumi to stop the Spirit Turtle. Ost also said that she knew how to kill the Spirit Turtle. Naofumi was upset because the generals were arguing about who would lead the raid.
Then, Raphtalia suggested that Naofumi create his own plan that could not be debated by the generals. After that, Naofumi’s forces, accompanied by Ost and swordfighter Éclair Seyatte, prepared to fight the Spirit Turtle.
Suddenly, the Spirit Turtle woke up while the conqueror’s forces were preparing. Eclair decided to lead the main force to distract and direct the Spirit Turtle to the designated location. On the other hand, Naofumi’s forces lured the turtle’s familiar to come towards them with the help of Ost’s power.
After the Spirit Turtle was successfully directed to the designated location, more than half of the forces were injured due to the backlash of the Spirit Turtle’s attack. Seeing the urgent situation, Naofumi ordered them to execute the backup plan.
Assisted by a magic user using the ‘Judgment’ magic, Naofumi and his companions successfully cut off the Spirit Turtle’s neck. But, surprisingly Ost is still alive, indicating that the Spirit Turtle is still alive.
That night, Rishia told the story of her past until she was saved by Itsuki (one of the four Cardinal Heroes). At that time, Ost felt guilty because her task was to take people’s lives for the sake of the Spirit Turtle.
But when people expressed their gratitude and considered Ost part of them, Ost felt guilty. The next morning, Naofumi’s forces walked toward the body of the Spirit Turtle and found a note on how to stop the Spirit Turtle.
Ost, who had remembered all her past, helped Naofumi’s forces enter the body of the Spirit Turtle to destroy its heart. Inside the body of the Spirit Turtle, Naofumi met L’Arc, Therese, and Glass. L’Arc revealed that this time they did not intend to fight Naofumi and the others. Still, there is business with the Spirit Turtle.
