Rec 4: Apocalypse is a horror, mockumentary, thriller, and zombie movie directed by Jaume Balagueró. The movie stars Manuela Velasco, Héctor Colomé, Ismael Fritschi, and Críspulo Cabezas. The movie was released in 2014.
The story of the movie revolves around the outbreak of a mysterious virus at an apartment building, which forces the government to send a special forces team of four to contain the virus. They succeed in destroying the building, but only two members of the team, Lucas and Guzmán, manage to survive. They are also able to rescue Ángela, who appeared out of nowhere.
The next day, the survivors are taken onto a ship for further examination. Ángela becomes suspicious of the medical examination and attempts to escape with Guzmán’s help. However, they are caught and brought back on board. Dr. Ricarte, the head of the examination, separates Ángela and Guzmán. Guzmán is taken on a tour of the ship by Captain Ortega, while Ángela is forced to return to her cabin.
Guzmán spends his time investigating the ship and discovers that Dr. Ricarte rented it. Nick, a crew member, is able to help him recover recordings from Ángela’s camera. Ángela’s paranoia grows as she waits for the video to load. Meanwhile, Dr. Ricarte announces that they have lost an experimental primate infected with the same virus that caused the outbreak in the apartment building. The crew becomes infected rapidly, and Dr. Ricarte abandons Ángela, Guzmán, Lucas, and an elderly woman.
The four of them decide to fight back against the infected crew with whatever weapons they can find. During their escape attempt, the elderly woman is too frightened and flees, becoming infected. Dr. Ricarte becomes aware of video footage that reveals Ángela was infected orally by the virus, carried by a worm-like parasite. He sets out to locate and extract the parasite from Ángela, but his attempt is interrupted when Goro, one of the crew members, becomes aggressive.
The group splits up, with Ángela biting Dr. Ricarte to prove that she is not infected. The self-destruct sequence is activated, and the survivors flee the ship before it explodes. In conclusion, Rec 4: Apocalypse is an exciting and terrifying movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The combination of horror, mockumentary, thriller, and zombie elements makes for a unique and unforgettable cinematic experience. So, it’s a must-watch for all horror movie fans out there.
