On The Line (2021) is a crime-action film that tells the story of a former police officer, Han Seo Joon (Byun Yo Han), who embarks on a mission to take down a group of organized and hidden scammers who have recently scammed his wife, Mi Yeon (Won Jin Ah), and caused his boss to take his own life. Seo Joon is aided by an eccentric hacker as he tries to locate their base of operations and bring them to justice. With the use of an identity prepared by the hacker, Seo Joon travels to China where he discovers a well-structured and serious phone scamming operation. Will Seo Joon succeed in taking down the scamming syndicate or will he fall prey to their schemes?

The movie’s gripping opening scene sets the pace for what promises to be an explosive action-packed thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The film, directed by Kim Gok and Kim Sun, features an impressive cast that includes Byun Yo Han, Kim Mu Yeol, and Kim Hee Won.

Seo Joon, who now works in the construction industry, plans to buy a house with his wife, Mi Yeon, next year. He has also been informed about his impending promotion to a directorial post at the construction site. Excited about the promotion and the associated benefits, including a 20% salary increase and a transfer to Seoul, Seo Joon tries to share the good news with his wife. Unfortunately, Mi Yeon is busy with her work as a waiter and has little time to spare for Seo Joon.

One day, Seo Joon notices a suspicious-looking young man who enters the construction site without wearing a helmet. He politely requests that the young man put on a helmet to ensure his safety while on site. Later on, one of the site workers falls from a high place but is rescued by Seo Joon. Shortly after that incident, a man who claims to be an attorney and Seo Joon’s friend, Kim Hyun Su, contacts Mi Yeon to inform her that one of Seo Joon’s co-workers has died from the incident.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Mi Yeon tries to contact her husband, but he doesn’t answer his phone. She later learns that Seo Joon has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, Mi Yeon receives another phone call from an unknown person who warns her that Seo Joon might lose the case and advises her to pay a sum of money as a bribe to fix the case. Without any suspicion, Mi Yeon follows the instructions and sends the money to the account provided. The scammer then instructs his partners to divide the money into seven different accounts.

However, Mi Yeon realizes that she has been conned when she finds out that there was no accident that claimed the life of Seo Joon’s co-worker. With the money collected, the con artists begin executing their next scheme. Seo Joon is surprised to receive multiple calls from his wife who desperately tries to contact him. Upon speaking with her, Seo Joon uncovers that his wife has been scammed by someone posing as Kim Hyun Su. Mi Yeon rushes to the bank to cancel the transaction, but it’s too late as the scammers have already withdrawn the money. Feeling helpless and defeated, Mi Yeon reports the incident to the police. Unfortunately, while driving, she gets involved in an accident and meets a tragic end.

Determined to unravel the truth, Seo Joon continues to investigate the matter. He learns the full story of the scamming operation from his colleagues. According to them, scammers masquerading as insurance company representatives called them, offering them irresistible insurance deals. Seo Joon’s boss, unable to resist the offer, fell for the scam and divulged sensitive information about the company. The con artists then used this information to scam the company out of its funds, ultimately causing Seo Joon’s boss to take his own life.

Amidst the chaos, Seo Joon vows to bring the scamming syndicate to justice. He teams up with a hacker and devises a plan to infiltrate their organization. He executes the plan successfully, discovers their base of operations, and achieves his goal of taking down the scamming syndicate.
