Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence is an animated thriller released in 2011, directed by Yasuchiro Yamamoto and Michihiko Suwa. The movie features the voices of Kappei Yamaguchi, Minami Takayama, Rikiya Koyama, and Wakana Yamazaki. The story revolves around a murder case that takes place in Kitanosawa, a small village in Japan. This time, the stakes are higher than ever before, as the lives of the villagers and visitors are in grave danger.
The movie begins with Tokyo gearing up for the inauguration of a new train line Touto, which is to be presided over by the Governor of Tokyo, Yuichiro Asakura. However, just one day before the inauguration, the Governor receives a threat letter, which is immediately taken seriously by the central police station. Inspector Megure, Miwako, Takagi, and their team are deployed to ensure security on the day of the event. Meanwhile, Conan, the child detective, and his friends, along with Professor Agasa, are on their way to their vacation spot when they inadvertently stumble upon a mystery involving a bomb that has been planted on the new train line.
Conan begins to investigate the case and discovers that the Governor was in the spotlight a few years ago due to his role in building a dam in Kitanosawa, which forced the villagers to relocate to a new location. Conan believes that the information regarding the bomber could be found in Kitanosawa. Therefore, he plans a trip to the village to investigate the matter.
Accompanied by his friends, Conan travels to Kitanosawa, where they meet a group of locals who reveal that they are all childhood friends and were part of the group that relocated to the new village. They include Keisuke Yamao, Mizuki Toono, Fuyumi Tachihara, Takehiki Mutou, and Shougo Hikawa. Hikawa had been imprisoned for killing his sister, Natsuki Toono, in a hit-and-run accident, but had been released on parole.
The next morning, a young boy named Touma Tachihara wakes up from an eight-year coma caused by an accident that had taken place before the relocation. Everyone is delighted to see Touma regain consciousness, but he cannot remember the details of the accident. Conan and his friends investigate further, and their investigation takes them to the spot where Hikawa was found dead. Conan discovers that there were no other footprints in the snow around the scene of the crime, and deduces that the murderer walked backwards to hide his tracks.
Later on, the group encounter a mysterious figure who seems to be watching Touma from a distance. Conan continues his investigation and discovers a piece of news about a jewelry store robbery that took place a day before Natsuki’s hit-and-run accident. Conan realizes that the culprit was Keisuke, who had stolen the jewels and fled to Kitanosawa to hide them. Unfortunately, Keisuke causes another accident by running into Touma, who ends up being kidnapped by Keisuke.
