Engage Kiss is a romantic comedy anime series based on a manga with the same title by Itachi. The anime series premiered on July 3, 2022, and is a collaboration project by Aniplex, while A-1 Pictures produced the anime. The storyline revolves around Shuu, a young man who runs a small business and lives a carefree life. Kisara, an demon, and Ayano, Shuu’s ex-girlfriend, are always worried about him.

The story is set in Bayron, a city in the Pacific Ocean, and depicts the romantic comedy of these three characters. The first three episodes depict Shuu’s constant struggles with money, and how he is always bailed out by Ayano and Kisara. When Shuu wins a bidding war for a monster eradication project, Ayano’s employer helps him. However, the monster proves to be too powerful for Shuu, and Kisara has to step in and help Shuu by using all her might, including asking Shuu to kiss her.

Episodes four and five introduce a detective who is investigating a murder that happened a few days ago. Ayano and Shuu are involved in the case and end up working together to solve it. Ayano and Shuu’s relationship is shown to be strained, but the reason for their estrangement is revealed later in the series. A demon who can come out through mirrors makes Ayano the target, but Shuu and Kisara help her.
