In this exciting episode, Shanks, the red-haired pirate, is seen standing in front of Joy Boy’s tomb after successfully deciphering the last Poneglyph’s script. He has become the character closest to achieving the coveted title of Pirate King, which was once held by Gol D Roger. With this remarkable accomplishment, Shanks is rumored to have acquired the One Piece treasure and was coronated as the new ‘Pirate King.’
While Oda Sensei did not seem troubled by the leak of this episode, he has mentioned that the final saga’s plot twist is still under development. Spoiler alert – according to the bocoran One Piece 1087, the Gorosei Saturn is astounded to see Monkey D Luffy awakening Gear 6 and unlocking the destiny of Shanks.
However, some fans think that Shanks’ conquest of the Pirate King title was forced. Compared to the other strong characters like Luffy, Kurohige, Law, and Kid, Shanks appears only rarely making fans question his true strength. It was only in the Elbaf arc that he was given a significant moment.
Going back to Shanks becoming the new ‘Pirate King,’ the leaked episode reveals that he and his crew managed to track down the last Poneglyph from Eustass Kid’s hands. They discovered an ancient ruin with the Oro Jackson, Roger’s ship, at the center. Shanks knew better, as he destroyed a crystal before he was slain, releasing a powerful force that cast Kurohige out of the tomb’s gate. Before dying, Shanks also destroyed the rune that blocked the gate and Nico Robin might be the only one who can solve its mystery as she has the knowledge of the Void Century.

Though his reign as the ‘Pirate King’ was short-lived, it will be remembered for its significance in shaping One Piece’s final arc.
