One Piece 1085 Reveals the Surprising Family Tree of Monkey D. Luffy and Monkey D. Dragon

In One Piece 1085, Teras our site uncovered a mind-blowing fact that had been a secret up until now, the family tree of Monkey D. Luffy. Rocks D. Xebec, the legendary pirate captain, is revealed to be the father of Monkey D. Dragon. This also means that Rocks D. Xebec is the grandfather of Luffy. It was quite surprising news for the viewers, who were left with a lot of questions. Who is Monkey D. Garp? Where does he fit into this family tree?

One Piece creator, Eiichiro Oda, disclosed the truth regarding the family tree in 1085. As per indications, there is striking resemblance in the appearance of Dragon and Rocks D. Xebec, as they both have hair with spiked style and set to the back. Their faces are quite similar, and they both wear large cloaks with collars. This resemblance sparked a theory that Dragon might not be Garp’s biological son but possibly married Princess Monkey D. Garp, and Luffy’s grandfather is Rocks D. Xebec. The difference between the two is their hair texture, as seen in the silhouette.

Both Rocks D. Xebec and Dragon have similar methods, but their goals are different. Rocks D. Xebec wants to destroy the World Government, while Dragon wants to destroy the entire system they have built. However, both of them are known to oppose the World Government and Celestial Dragons. In the God Valley incident, when Dragon was approximately 17 years old, he attacked the Celestial Dragons and was even labeled as the criminal with the highest bounty in the world of One Piece. Although Dragon was a former Marine officer, it would have been difficult for the Marines to let him join the force if they knew his lineage. Hence, Dragon married the princess of the Monkey D. family, making him Garp’s son-in-law.

Garp is not Dragon’s biological father, and neither is he Luffy’s real grandfather, as was previously thought. Garp is actually the father of Dragon and the adopted grandfather of Luffy. Despite his son’s actions as a pirate, Garp remains devoted to protecting his grandson and is proud of Luffy’s achievements.
