Netflix has released the highly anticipated trailer of the live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. However, South Korean netizens, who are among the biggest fans of the manga, have not reacted positively to the trailer. In forums and social media platforms, many expressed their disappointment towards the Netflix adaptation. One Piece has been popular in South Korea since the 2000s, appearing in manhwa and drama adaptations such as Lookism. The franchise reportedly generates around 10 billion Won in revenue every year.

The official trailer released by Netflix drew mostly negative reactions from its viewers. Many believe that One Piece should have stayed as a manga or anime. Some commented that the cinematography in the live action looked weird, and the actors seemed like they were in a cosplay party. Others went as far as saying that the live action version was a horror movie fit for summer viewing. They also compared the poor quality of the adaptation to that of a fan cosplay.

South Korean netizens continued to express their disappointment, especially among One Piece fans and Netflix enthusiasts, with only a few anticipating the full release of the film.
