Maon Kurosaki, a well-known anime singer and songwriter, passed away at the age of 35 on Thursday, February 16, 2023. She was battling a chronic illness called epidural hematoma, which she had been suffering from for a long time. However, Art ONE Entertainment Agency officially announced it on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

According to comicbook.com on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Art ONE Entertainment officially announced Maon Kurosaki’s sudden passing. “To all fans of Maon Kurosaki and everyone involved. Maon Kurosaki, who belongs to our company, passed away suddenly on February 16 due to a chronic illness that had worsened,” the statement read.

Moreover, Art ONE Entertainment’s official announcement mentioned that Maon’s passing occurred after they had discussed matters such as film releases, post-summer schedules, and new song releases. However, the news of her passing was delayed because her family and close relatives wanted it to be a private affair.

Prior to her death, Maon Kurosaki had fainted during a live stream in September 2021, where she celebrated her 11th year as a singer. She was immediately rushed to the hospital to seek treatment for epidural hematoma.

Epidural hematoma is a condition characterized by bleeding in the epidural space of the brain, which is an accumulation of blood in the space between the layers of the protective covering surrounding the brain and the skull. Her single “Magic World” was used as the ending theme song for “A Certain Magical Index II.” Other anime that featured Maon Kurosaki’s songs include Strike the Blood, Dangannronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Future Arc, School-Live!, Dances with the Dragons, Franchise Grisaia, Jormungand Perfect Order, Shakugan no Shana III (Final), Tokyo Ravens, and Drifters.
