Haikyuu, the popular sports anime has aired its fourth season while the fifth and sixth seasons are still in production. The anime has already taught valuable life lessons to its viewers, even without the wait for the upcoming seasons. The main character, Shoyo Hinata, portrayed as a lively and enthusiastic individual, proved that being shorter than other volleyball players did not hinder his performance. His small stature even gave him extraordinary speed and jumping ability, earning him the title of little giant.
Hinata’s positivity and trust in his dreams allowed him to excel on the volleyball court, despite facing formidable opponents. By working with his teammates, he overcame the strongest adversaries. Hinata’s humility allowed him to learn from his opponents during his stint as goalkeeper during the national training, leading him to improve further. He is a person who never gives up on his dreams, remaining optimistic and cheerful no matter the circumstances.
Aside from Hinata’s character, the Karasuno High School volleyball team has a healthy ecosystem, where each player supports their teammates’ growth while competing for the best performance. They do not punish each other for mistakes but instead provide support that motivates everyone. Even Tobio Kageyama, known as the authoritarian king of the field, learned to collaborate better, especially with Hinata. His conflicts with teammates were not intended to harm but were a result of his need to improve his communication skills.
Meanwhile, the team’s senior, Koshi Sugawara, exemplified humility and communication. As a third-year student and the setter of the team, he gave up his position to Kageyama once he saw the latter’s potential. Sugawara did not feel belittled in any way and instead praised Kageyama’s prowess at replacing him. Although not the best player, he is the most communicative, always providing support to his teammates while creating a relaxed atmosphere.
In conclusion, Haikyuu provides viewers with valuable life lessons that inspire them to be positive, humble, communicative, and always strive for their dreams. It emphasizes the importance of teamwork and motivation while showcasing individual talents. These lessons extend beyond the volleyball court, making Haikyuu an anime worth watching for anyone, sports fan or not.
