The movie begins with a small family comprising of Adrian, his wife Sandra, and their two kids, Niki and Kinan, who decide to go on a road trip to a lake to take a break. However, since Sandra is Niki’s stepmother, their relationship is not perfect. Niki feels trapped under Sandra’s rules, and this situation makes her feel angry, thinking the trip will make things worse. When they reach the lake, Adrian and Sandra talk about Niki and other problems while Kinan insists on exploring the area.
While Kinan is exploring, he finds an old doll called Jailangkung. Suddenly, he disappears into the woods, and Niki goes searching for him. When they can’t locate Kinan, they become anxious and enter a long search for him. Madjid, the police chief, tells them that the search will continue in the forest and the lake. While the family is staying in Madjid’s house, Sandra starts to hear Kinan’s voice faintly calling her.
The family realizes that the Jailangkung doll is the key to solving the mystery behind the missing children in the village. Niki and Faisal, a new character, learn a lot more about the doll’s myth than they expected. By learning about the doll, they find out that Kinan is trapped in a different realm. Kinan is kidnapped by the spirit of Inggi, the daughter of Saijah, an old woman living near the lake. When Niki and Faisal finally decipher the code written in the doll, Kinan manages to escape and return home.
